Faculty of Forestry professor, Suzanne Simard is earning worldwide acclaim for the recent launch of her book, Finding the Mother Tree: Discovering the Wisdom of the Forest. The book was published by Penguin Random House, a multinational publishing company and launched on May 4th, 2021 by top literary agencies Idea Architects from San Francisco and New York-based Fortier PR. Since then, it has received glowing reviews from major media outlets including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, British Vogue and, as of this writing, ranks fifth on the New York Times Best Seller List. The film rights have also been purchased by Hollywood A-listers Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal with Amy Adams set to play the role of Simard.
By inviting her readers into her deeply personal journey as a British Columbian forest ecologist researching the connectivity between trees, Dr Simard reveals a unique and heartfelt perspective in her book. Dr Suzanne Simard is a Professor of Forest Ecology in the UBC Faculty of Forestry and the leader of The Mother Tree Project. Suzanne is also the Program Director of UBC Forestry’s Master of Sustainable Forest Management program.
