Assistant Professor in Sustainable Business Management of Natural Resources (Deadline: August 31, 2020)

Job Summary

Applications are invited for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level (tenure-track) in Sustainable Business Management of Natural Resources in the Department of Wood Science, Faculty of Forestry, University of British Columbia.

This is a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The anticipated start date for the position is spring or summer 2021. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. All UBC positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Qualifications

A PhD degree in management science, forest products marketing, or an affiliated field is required. Evidence of excellence in research, in-depth knowledge of forest products industries, emerging bio-economy strategies, and innovative strategic management for renewable materials are required. The potential to become a very effective teacher of undergraduate students and mentor to graduate students is required for this appointment. Preference will be given to visionary candidates who show promise or accomplishments in one or more of the following areas:

  • Management science
  • Green marketing, product development, innovation
    • Bio-based materials
    • Engineered building products and systems
  • Corporate social responsibility, sustainable business strategies
  • Business plan development (primary and secondary wood products sectors, including Aboriginal)
  • Transformative business strategies in the emerging global bio-economy / circular economy
  • Alternative business models for natural resource sectors

The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing (CAWP), which through its extension and applied research programs offers extensive links with Canadian and international wood product manufacturers and opportunities to work with existing and emerging companies and organizations.
